Dear readers
This was a real tough day for the team.
Firstly, I need to say thank you to the NSW girls who have helped formed our team.
They are young.
Celine Chen is just 17. Phoebe Ooi is just 14 and Amelia Lowe is 13.
They have played their hearts out and made NSW and WA proud. Of course, we have our own Alicia Xu who is doing everything she can for WA.
The first game today was against NSW 1.
It was a baptism of fire for Phoebe. Her mum told me she was so apprehensive about playing for WA in her first team national event. However, when she met and played with our nice boys, she was so happy and quickly settled in.
Jasper and SunYee did well to beat Marcus and Leon in 2 sets.
Vic He and Ysabel were too strong for Celina and Phoebe.
Xiang and Tyz beat HD and Justin in 2 sets. That is the for Alicia and Amelia winning in 2 sets.
Jason Lee took Reinhard to 3 sets. In the 3rd set Jason was 15/20 behind and he rallied all the way to 19 before losing. He has done his parents proud. He has improved so much and will be a force to reckon with.
Ysabel won young Phoebe in 2 sets.
Tyz went 3 sets with Marcus before winning.
Young Amelia did everyone proud by taking a set off Jodee but had to concede in 3 sets.
KC had an easy 2 set win against Justin.
Fung beat Celine in 2 sets.
Xiang also had to do 3 sets to win HD.
Alicia was not strong enough to hold Tiff Ho losing in 2 sets.
We lost all our mixed doubles except Xiang and Celina against Marcus and Janet.
Tyz and Phoebe had 2 close sets through deuces but had to concede.
The NSW girls have been so good.
