The Individual events on the 2nd day. Mens doubles and singles

Dear readers

It has been an exciting and eventful day for the WA boys.

The day started with the quarter finals for Men.

Tyzton played Keith Edison who is seeded 1.

Kai Chen played Marcus Loi who is seeded 6th. Xiang played Jarad Song who is seeded 8.

There were 3 WA boys in Quarters.

Tyz won his first set against Keith 22/20. The 2nd set was not good for Tyzton fighting to get back from behind at 7/14. He only managed 10/21 and had to settle for a rubber. The rubber did not go well and he trailed most of the time.

He lost the 3rd set at 15/21 bowing out of the singles.

KC had an easier 2 sets win over Marcus at 21/16, 21/9.

Likewise Xiang won in 2 sets at 21/13, 21/10.

Next followed the mens doubles quarters. WA was represented by 3 teams in the quarters. This must be historical just as having 3 players in the quarters.

Keith Edison and brother played Jason Lee and Sunyee. Jason and Sunyee could not get into the grove in the first set losing 15/21. Their second game was better and they almost got a rubber finally conceding at 25/23. Sunyee and Jason have improved so much and Yuli must be very proud.

Next we had Jasper and Sunyee against Huai Dong and Justin Lee, the Under 5s champs.

Jasper had despatched Huai Dong in the mixed 3rd round. Could tournament for Sunyee and he was visibly upset.Jasper do it again?

Jasper and Sunyee won the first set at 21/19. However they trailed and had to contend with 21/10 in the second set losing their concentration.

In the 3rd set, it looked like Jasper was going to cause another upset. The trailed but came back strongly before losing at 21/13. That was the end of the tournament for Sunyee and he was visibly upset. However, I can see how much Sunyee has improved and he will be a force to reckon with in the next under 19.

Tyz and Xiang had no problems dispatching  younger Jared Song and Elton Zhang in 2 sets at 21/11 and 21/14.
