Dear readers
I was not able to get to Kingsway today and had to wait for updates from Lee Fah. Unfortunately there was little news as it was mostly bad news.
The team was not doing well against a very strong Vic team. They had veterans and Aus players Joy Lai and Alice Wu.
The good news was Tyz and Xiang beating Eddie Luk and John Taing in 3 sets. The mums had heart attacks as the scores were very close.
Our young girl players could not contain the stronger Vic girls.
Bearing in mind Bella and GeriMay are still eligible to play in the Under 15s this October, I thought they did very well and played bravely.
Xiang also did well beating Kunal Patil in 3 sets.
Gavin and Bella had a win against Joy Lai and John Taing as Vic retired.
Julia and Titus had a hard 3 setter but could not win against R Sing and Alice.
I understand the coach, manager, players and parents may be disappointed. They should not be as the players have punched way above their weight.
Now they have to concentrate on the fight to get at least a bronze medal. It will not be an easy fight as SA has improved their team chances with 3 new imports from Malaysia. Every point will have to be fought for as the team is very close in standard to ours judging from the scores they had against the teams WA played against.
Good luck to the team.
Also, I have not received any photos to include in the post. Maybe some parents can send me photos.
I am also having problems with my ipad and not being able to upload photos readily. Still trying to sort out the technical issues.
See you tomorrow if you can turn up to support the team.
