BadmintonWAUnder 19s: WA v NSW 1

Dear readers

This was always going to be a tough match. NSW 1 has always been a strong team and we have yet to beat them in as many tournaments. However Andrew and Jillian were confident that WA could do well.

We lost the first mens doubles in 2 sets.

Silvi and Julia also could not get WA a point going down in 2 sets.

We could do no better with the no.1 boys and girls doubles.

Things were looking bad. Kai Chen then went in. He played his heart out but had to concede in 3 sets against a much older player.

Teigan and Amanda also failed to get WA ahead despite giving everything in their tank.

The next game was between Tyz v Huai Dong. Tyz has never beaten HD before and he looked resigned to another WA loss. However, he did his best and surprised everyone with a 1st set win. The 2nd set was much closer and he nearly got it at deuce but HD survived.

The 3rd set was a nail biter and all the WA supporters especially me was going hoarse screaming our support. Tyz finally won the 3rd set to give WA's first point.

Gavin was next against Justin. He lost to Justin in NZ . He was out to revenge himself. He lost the first set at 17. He plucked up his courage and got the 2nd and 3rd set fighting all the way and making his parents proud.

WA proceeded to lose the next 6 games.

The final game was between Titus and Julia against Justin and Tiff.

They won the first after a nailbiting deuce at 22/22. The 2nd set was lost but they came back strongly to win the 3rd set. Good on Titus and Julia. They gave everything and did themselves proud.

Tomorrow WA face Victoria. They have beaten Vic in the last Under 15s and Under 17s tournament. This time Vic will throw everything at WA with Joy Lai and Alice Wu leading the charge.

If we win Vic we will play for gold and silver. If not we will play for bronze. Good luck team.
