Dear readers
It was a hard fought battle today. WA emerged victorious against SA.
We have fought against SA so many times just to get a medal standing. Luckily, most times WA wins. You can almost feel bad for the SA players.
However, it was WA's day today.
Things looked good the moment SY Choong and Alicia won their singles games. Alicia should be congratulated for hanging in there and finally winning the 3rd set 22/20 despite losing the first set at 19/21.
However, things looked bad when Xiang lost in 2 sets to Keith Edison. Xiang must be very tired now having played hard for WA the last few days. I hope he recovers soon so that he can face the individuals.
The team got back their mojo and fought well.
All the players are to be congratulated for giving their all for WA. Their parents should be proud. I can imagine the tension felt by the parents watching the game or even just looking at the scores on wechat.
The players who have won their first national medal will stand proud. I hope this pushes them to greater heights in badminton.
The umpire, coach and manager have held the team up and pushed them to victory. It is a bronze medal, but it is still a medal as it was won despite not having a full team and having to borrow Phoebe from NSW. Thanks to Phoebe and her parents for sending her to WA again.
Now for the individuals. Good luck all.
